Chairman announced for the new Consumer Codes Approval Scheme

The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) is delighted to announce Baroness Christine Crawley as the new chairman of its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS).

The new scheme, taking over from the existing system under the Office of Fair Trading as part of the new consumer landscape, is now all set to go live in April.

Baroness Crawley said: “I am very excited at the scope and ambition of this new departure for TSI and am honoured to be involved with it from its very beginning.

“TSI’s CCAS will give consumers better protection and help them identify traders they can trust, while releasing the resources of code sponsors to focus on raising standards and reducing consumer detriment.”

TSI’s chief executive Ron Gainsford said: “Having the support of Baroness Crawley for this new TSI venture is excellent news – she is a real trading standards champion and her leadership will be sure to give the CCAS a fantastic boost.”

The CCAS will go live on 1 April 2013 and will be formally launched in June.
