National Trading Standards Conversation hits the road
The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) is bringing the National Trading Standards Conversation to a town near you. Facilitated by Lynn Faulds Wood, the well known TV presenter, the conversation is intended to allow your region to provide input on how to protect consumers and support businesses at a time when national cuts are impacting the consumer landscape.
As part of a nationwide discussion, TSI will focus on: developing the best structure for trading standards; the sharing and obtaining of intelligence; ensuring officer competency; empowering consumers; developing priorities; supporting economic growth; and establishing successful partnerships. The conversation is a chance for trading standards and other stakeholders to give their views on what they think trading standards should be doing.
The National Trading Standards Conversation includes a series of regional open meetings, focus groups on key themes, individual meetings with government departments and stakeholders from key groups and an online and already popular survey which is open to everyone.
Leon Livermore, chief executive of TSI said: "It is brilliant to see trading standards being discussed on a national level by key figures and organisations.
"Effective trading standards drive a vibrant economy, and plays a large part in the country's economic growth. Even as the industry suffers austerity cuts, it is vital for us to maintain and even advance our high trading standards, something this conversation proves."
