Three dealerships in Leeds awarded Motor Trade Partnership awards for excellent customer service

West Yorkshire Trading Standards is celebrating the success of the Motor Trade Partnership after three dealerships in Leeds were awarded Excellent Customer Service Awards for 2012-2013.

The Motor Trade Partnership (MTP) was set up to work with West Yorkshire garages in order to improve standards within the motor industry, following an increasing number of consumer complaints in relation to car sales, servicing and repairs. The scheme aims to give consumers the confidence that they are dealing with a reputable trader who has made a commitment to fair and honest practices by becoming a member of the Partnership. Member garages display the Partnership logo, and will be able to answer questions about the scheme.

In order to be eligible for an Excellent Customer Service Award, members are rigorously audited annually and any complaints received by West Yorkshire Trading Standards are reviewed. A plaque is presented in recognition of the customer care members have provided over the preceding 12 months, which the dealerships display at the premises.

Farnell Landrover, Guiseley, JCT600 Seat/Peugeot, Menston and Benfield Ford, Guiseley are receiving annual awards. Benfield Ford on Otley Road in Guiseley are receiving their 9th consecutive award, which represents a substantial achievement in an industry which often suffers from a poor reputation for customer service.

Not all members achieve award status, and those garages are advised where improvements need to be made. Garages consistently breaching the terms of the scheme and giving poor customer service will no longer be eligible for membership. Details of partnership members, and garages which currently hold awards can be found on the MTP website.

Nick Harps, Dealer Principal of Farnell Landrover Guiseley said “we always aim to excel when dealing with customers and exceed their expectations. We are proud to receive this Excellent Customer Service Award”.

Alan Morrison, After Sales Manager and David Lister Sales Manager of Benfield Ford, Guiseley said “we are delighted to receive this MTP award once again, reinforcing our commitment to excellent customer service”.

Scott Fairhead, Service Manager of JCT600 Seat/Peugeot, Menston said, “Receiving this award from West Yorkshire Trading Standards confirms our commitment to excellent customer service. We are dedicated to exceeding our customers’ expectations”.

Councillor Bill Urry of the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Committee, said “The Motor Trade Partnership is an excellent example of innovative working between businesses and Trading Standards that helps the consumers of West Yorkshire. Those garages that have joined the scheme are clearly making a positive statement that they hold customers in high esteem, and those receiving awards have proved this beyond doubt.”
