TSI responds to industry's pledge to tackle irresponsible drinking
The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) supports efforts made by the alcohol industry to reduce irresponsible drinking. This comes in response to the 10 July 2014 commitment from the alcohol industry to take several actions to support the government's challenge to tackle the £21 billion a year cost of drink-related harm.
TSI Joint Lead Officer for Health Sharon Sawyers said: "The Trading Standards Institute is strongly committed to reducing the harm caused to individuals and communities by alcohol misuse. Our members will continue to work in partnership to support traders and assist them in meeting the pledges outlined in The Responsibility Deal."
The Public Health Responsibly Deal includes six new pledges that build on existing pledges to reduce harm. This includes asking pubs and bars stock low alcohol beer and house wines below 12.5 percent ABV. For more information about the pledges, click here.
