Car rental companies to review their practices
Consumer advice organisation UK European Consumer Centre (UK ECC) has welcomed news today (Monday 13 July 2015) from the European Commission that five major car rental companies have agreed to review their practices towards consumers.
The news comes after work by the European Commission and national consumer protection authorities and means that consumers should benefit from clearer contract terms on insurances and tank refuelling options, fairer handling of damages and greater price transparency. The action was triggered by rising complaints relating to car rentals received by European Consumer Centres.
