Say No to Doorstep Callers

With doorstep crime on the rise TSI is hitting back with a campaign to help residents say no to uninvited sales people.

An online toolkit to support trading standards staff in their fight against bogus salesmen is available on the TSI website together with an information pack to help local communities set up cold-calling control zones.

Hundreds of Cold Calling Control Zones are already operating successfully across the UK with reports of significant crime reduction and a greater feeling of security amongst residents.

TSI lead officers for crime and disorder are working to further promote awareness through involvement with the Home Office campaign Real Help for Real People.  A link to the Doorstoppers - Say No to Doorstep Crime web pages will feature in the Secure Your Home government advice pack launched 7 April 2009.
