TSI pops up with Rip Off Britain

The Trading Standards Institute's fair trading lead officer Sylvia Rook will be one of seven experts at BBC One’s Rip Off Britain Pops Up in Manchester for a special weekend of free consumer advice.

Angela Rippon, Gloria Hunniford and new recruit Julia Somerville will be bringing the Rip Off Britain team to Manchester’s Trafford Centre 17 - 18 September where they have teamed up with BBC Learning to open a Pop-Up shop offering free consumer advice.

The team is excited to be coming to Manchester, and as Angela Rippon says, it is the face-to-face element that is so appealing: "No one likes being taken for a ride or finding that they've been ripped off and cheated out of their hard-earned cash.  The team at Rip Off Britain are real consumer champions.  So this is your chance to get practical advice and help – face-to-face - with our experts. Come and join us.  We could just be the solution to your problems!"

In addition to consumer experts who will be there to offer general advice, assist with specific problems or queries, and give information to prevent consumers being ripped off, there will also be an interactive area where maths experts will show consumers tips on improving their numeracy skills.  The aim is that this will help people make better informed choices and give them more confidence in organising their finances.

Rip Off Britain returns to BBC One Daytime in November.
