Staying Legal During the Olympics
The Trading Standards Institute produces a comprehensive range of leaflets to help businesses and consumers understand how trading standards legislation affects them.
In line with our National Consumer Week ‘Good Sports Don’t Fake It’ theme, TSI offers a ‘Staying legal during the Olympics’ leaflet – we’ve included the introduction below:
‘In general terms you should be extremely careful of making any claims and/or associations with the London Olympics 2012. The Olympic brand is very well protected in law, and even terms and references that do not directly reference it may not comply.
If you are thinking of using the Olympics to grow interest in your products or services, you should take great care to make sure that you will not be risking action from the organisers (The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games - LOCOG) or other enforcement agencies.
The London Olympic Games and Paralympics Games Act 2006
The Olympic Symbol etc. Protection Act 1995
The Trade Marks Act 1994
