Trading Standards tweeting business advice

‘Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service has launched its own business advice twitter as a quick and simple means to help provide Warwickshire businesses with information and advice.

Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said:

“Unfortunately, all too often Warwickshire Trading Standards only comes in to contact with a business when something goes wrong or there is a complaint to investigate.”

“Officers would much prefer to stay in regular contact with the business community to offer help and advice, promote fair trading and safety and avoid problems occurring in the first place.”

“Twitter and other new social media provide us with a wonderful opportunity to do just this and help keep small and medium sized businesses across Warwickshire up to date with the latest Trading Standards issues that might affect them.”

Warwickshire Trading Standards aims to use twitter to advise businesses about issues such as changes to trading laws, licence renewals and scams.

The Trading Standards Animal Health Team are also hoping to use twitter as another means to communicate with the farming community.

The Service will be contacting a range of small and medium sized businesses in the coming months with information about the twitter page.
