A petrol station and the owner of a neighbouring taxi firm have both been fined after the death of two people, killed in an explosion caused by the improper handling of petrol. Scam mail campaign Think Jessica, supported by TSI, has now produced an information booklet aimed at elderly and chronic victims.It describes the most common scams coming through letter boxes, explains how they work and provides some immediate advice.Campaigner Marilyn Baldwin said: ‘Scam mail causes so much devastation behind closed doors.  The posters and leaflets are helping us to reach out to those who do not have internet access, and have been tricked, befriended and threatened in some cases for years.’...

TSI supports the recommendations made in the Final Report of Lord Justice Jackson's Review of Civil Litigation Costs and welcomes the idea of a small claims track and a fast track (depending upon the monetary value of the claims being made), believing that they will benefit small and medium enterprises taking action.

TSI regrets that no direct reference to Trading Standards is made in the draft plan and points out that the Consumer Focus predecessor consumer organisations consistently championed the TS service.
