East Sussex County Council trading standards has successfully taken court action against a man involved in a misleading mass mail prize draw operation. Julian Mills, of Stockport, was behind  the sending of 136,000 misleading mailings sent by UK Incentives & Promotions Ltd, based in Berkshire and now in liquidation.The letters implied recipients had won £625,000  but in fact they were simply being sold a low quality watch for £20 and  a very remote chance to win the  prize in an international prize...

An urgent appeal has been issued to thousands of consumers who remain at risk from potentially fatal carbon monoxide poisoning in their homes despite concerted efforts by the manufacturer and trading standards to reach them.Earlier this year it emerged that a number of Leisure, Flavel, New World and Belling cookers produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide if the grill door is not left open during use, as specified in the instructions.The freephone number to call the manufacturer is 0800 342...

TSI response (PDF 95.5KB). These Regulations will implement the EU Directive on Pyrotechnics which covers, inter alia, fireworks. TSI agrees with the definition of fireworks which are subject to prohibition, but calls for the inclusion of a mechanism to prohibit novel fireworks which subsequently prove to have a similar nuisance value or be a danger to the public. TSI also suggests that all consumer fireworks whould be subject to one age limit
