A team from Boroughmuir High School has won a very entertaining Edinburgh Final of the Young Consumers of the Year 2012/13 Competition, which was held yesterday afternoon (18 December 2012) at Edinburgh City Chambers.They clinched victory after fighting off competition from runners up Tynecastle High School. A Newtownabbey car dealer was today fined a total of £1,000 plus £98 costs at Belfast’s Laganside Magistrates’ Court. TSi response (PDF 148KB). TSI welcomes the proposal to improve consumer redress by extending the range of Civil Enforcement Remedies available to enforcers. Our members have long been aware that although criminal courts have the power to award damages to consumers who fall victim to crime, they mostly decline to do so. Where they do exercise such powers it does not necessarily bring justice to the case.
