TSI welcomes the central government investment in the better regulatory sector through an organisation like LBRO and strongly advocates that any suggestion of a withdrawal of sector funding, particularly at this very challenging economic time, risks destabilising much of the progress that has been made.

TSI response (PDF 352KB). TSI agrees that a more robust system of issuing of CPH (County Parish Holding) numbers is required. It expresses concern at the ad hoc issuing of holding numbers to blocks of flats. It notes, furthermore, that the current system does not adequately cover the increasing numbers of holders of pet livestock.

TSI response (PDF 113KB). On the whole, TSI agrees with the proposals set out in the consultation. It does point out, however, that there may be problems on small rural sites with old storage tanks where the more aggressive nature of ethanol could adversely affect the security of petrol storage.

TSI response (PDF 119KB). TSI recognises and supports the need for some parts of the proposed legislation to give the ability to recall and withdraw to some UK enforcement authorities who currently do not have such powers. It does not, however, support proposals to also introduce new legislation concerning the misuse of the CE mark - this is best dealt with using existing legislation.
