The Trading Standards Institute takes on new responsibilitiesThe Trading Standards Institute (TSI) has become the newest member of the Office of Fair Trading's Consumer Protection Partnership (CPP), reflecting its important role within the consumer landscape.
The CPP (originally called Strategic Intervention Prevention and Enforcement Partnership) was set up by the Government in April 2012 to bring about better coordination, intelligence sharing and identification of future consumer issues within the consumer protection arena. Other members include Consumer Focus, Citizens Advice and the Consumer Council.
TSI has an important role in driving business compliance with new responsibilities going live in April 2013 including leading on business education and running the new Consumer Codes Approval Scheme.
TSI’s chief executive Ron Gainsford said: “We are very pleased to be sitting at the CPP table so that we can directly contribute to making this partnership an effective means to improve consumer protection at a national level, now and in the future.”
