Trading Standards Institute welcomes new Operations Director
The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) is being joined by Andy Foster who takes the new role of Operations Director at TSI on Monday 8 February.
TSI’s chief executive Ron Gainsford said: ‘This is a great development for TSI and I know Andy will be a fantastic asset for us, helping us grow and improve our commercial arm while strengthening our links with our membership and trading standards services across the country.’
Andy is looking forward to this new challenge and is under no illusion as to the importance of the role he is undertaking.
He said: ‘Local Government feels like it’s never felt before, there will be tough times ahead.
‘This is a new era for the Institute and we must be on top of our game if we are to do our best by the membership as the wheels of the local government revolution turn more quickly than ever.’
Born and raised in Great Grimsby in Lincolnshire, Andy brings with him nearly 20 years of local government experience, the last four as North East Lincolnshire Trading Standards Manager.
Andy’s career started as a Finance Officer at Cleethorpes Borough Council, where he was working towards becoming an accountant.
Unconvinced this was the right path for him he decided to join the fraud team where he got a taste for investigations.
A few years later Andy joined the newly formed North East Lincolnshire Council Trading Standards Service.
In his spare time Andy is a keen cricketer, playing in the Lincolnshire League.
Commitment to TSI runs in the family as his wife Lisa is Secretary of the East Midlands Branch and TSI lead officer for the environment.
