Adrian Simpson, Service Director (Commercial Services)
Adrian has over a decade of experience in consumer protection and business advice with roles ranging from Consumer Advisor up to his most recent role as service manager of a food, safety and trading standards service. His career in trading standards began as a consumer advisor at Consumer Direct at Kent County Council in Maidstone.
He then joined the UK European Consumer Centre as a cross-border Consumer Advisor before joining the London Borough of Greenwich as a Consumer Services Officer where he provided advice to consumers as well as investigating criminal breaches of consumer law.
After this he became the Trading Standards Senior practitioner for the London Borough of Redbridge where he qualified as a Financial Investigator and then became the Food, Safety and Trading Standards Manager at the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
Due to his academic background in journalism Adrian occasionally writes for TS Today and is on the editorial board of TS Review. Since 2009 Adrian has been a CTSI Lead Officer without portfolio where he comments to the media and responds to consultations on areas not covered by other Lead Officers or deputises for them when necessary. He has spoken many times on TV and in the press about matters relating to trading standards.
Adrian is the Service Director (Commercial Services) which involves management of the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme as well as the development and progression of the business advice functions of CTSI.
Outside of work Adrian passionately follows football and enjoys taking his sons to matches. He also enjoys song writing and playing the bass.
