Laura Kane, Interim Head of Policy
Laura joined the CTSI policy team in March 2020. Laura is a law graduate with a passion for consumer protection, embarking on her career in The Trading Standards Service Northern Ireland where she spent 7 years and completed her DCATS, qualifying as an Inspector in 2012. Laura worked in the Fair Trading Team, dealing with criminal investigations on rogue traders, counterfeits, consumer credit and energy complaints. With a keen interest in consumer education and protecting vulnerable consumers, she managed the social media presence for the Service and developed a scams prevention strategy. Laura then spent over 3 years at the Utility Regulator, performing research and analysis and leading on projects to protect consumers in the electricity and gas sectors. Before joining CTSI Laura worked as a Senior Assessor in the Trusted Trader Scheme at Which? and developed a policy on vulnerable consumers.
Laura lives in Northern Ireland and likes to use her spare time to help others. Laura sits on the Board of the Huntington’s Disease Association of Northern Ireland and assists with policy and strategy. She has a keen interest in mental health and is currently studying in this area. When not at her computer, Laura can be found at the beach with her dog, at a yoga class or walking somewhere in nature.
