Plenary Three - Wednesday 12 June 2019
The Psychology of Consumers: What drives their purchase decisions and can make them fall for scams?
This plenary session looks to explore what happens in each of our minds when we deal with offers and deals on a regular basis. Why do consumers fall for scams? How do we understand the information presented to us and why do informed consumers still make decisions that are negative? This session will be presented by a behavioural thinker.
Tim Harford - It's our pleasure to announce that Tim Harford will be delivering a keynote speech on the psychology of scams. Tim is an economist, writer and broadcaster. He's the author of the million-selling 'The Undercover Economist' and more recently of 'Messy' and 'Fifty Things that Made the Modern Economy'. He's won awards both for his Financial Times columns and his BBC radio series, 'More or Less', which debunks dubious statistics wherever they may lurk. He's spoken at TED conferences, on the stand-up comedy circuit, and at the Sydney Opera House - and now he's here!
