Legal Metrology and Product Safety Training Programme


CTSI is pleased to announce that it is working in partnership with the Office for Product Safety and Standards to deliver a programme of Product Safety and Legal Metrology training to all local authority practitioners throughout the UK.

Software Digitalisation in Metrology and AI Training

This training is for trainee Weights and Measures Inspectors and those qualified officers trying to understand how software is controlled in modern legal metrology instruments. Delegates will get an understanding of how the MIRs, NAWI Regulations and OIML D31 control software in weighing and measuring instruments.

Bitesize Learning - General Product Safety Regulations

This training will provide an overview of the horizontal legal framework for products, and how this overlaps with vertical product legislation.  It will provide a detailed examination of what may be considered a ‘safe’ product in the context of risk and product standards and an examination of the obligations of economic operators before and after placing a product on the market.

Introduction to the Packaged Goods Regulations 2006

The course is an introduction to the Packaged Goods Regulations 2006. It will consider some of the statistical principles necessary to understand the Regulations and will have a detailed look at each of them and what they mean to an Inspector of Weights and Measures.

There will be an explanation of how to carry out a practical weights and measure check and the paperwork that can be used for this.
