CTSI Supports... Mental Health Awareness Week
Posted 09/05/25

12 May - 18 May 2025 : Mental Health Awareness Week is an event led by the Mental Health Foundation, that brings the UK together to focus on getting good mental health.
Mental health is more than just a small part of our lives. It’s connected to every little thing we do, every place we go and every person around us. Mental health is our physical health, our finances, our relationships. It’s part of our defining moments and the day-to-day.
What is Mental Health Awareness Week?
Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 runs from 12 May 2025 – 18 May 2025, and is an important time to shine a light on the importance of everyone’s mental health. It's a time for all of us to work together in creating a world where everyone feels supported with their mental health at home, work, and school.
This year, the theme set by the Mental Health Foundation is 'community'. Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us that we are not alone. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense of purpose. The 'community' theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week can help us make sure no mind gets left behind!

Show your support!
Mental Health Awareness Week serves as a helpful and human reminder to open up conversations about mental health and work towards a supportive and inclusive environment. This week is not just a date on the calendar, but an opportunity to reassess how mental health and wellbeing are handled at your organisation. To show your peers that they matter, and you care about them.
To make the most of Mental Health Awareness Week, you can:
- Wear it Green Day: organising a Wear it Green Day in your school, workplace or community and help to raise vital funds and awareness for mental health.
- Host open discussions about mental health: simply creating spaces for open discussions about mental wellbeing can be one of the most effective ways to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. Whether through informal chats, organised group discussions or inviting a mental health speaker, providing a platform for people to share their experiences is invaluable.
- Promote mindfulness and relaxation activities: mindfulness activities like meditation, yoga or breathing exercises can be incredibly beneficial for mental health – they help to reduce stress an improve focus.
- Gather feedback and create an ongoing mental health strategy: to mark Mental Health Awareness Week effectively, organisations should aim to gather honest feedback on existing mental health support structures. For example, a simple staff wellbeing survey can reveal how employees feel about the support they receive and what they think could improve.
