ADR Accreditation
Interested in becoming an accredited ADR body?
Since October 2015, traders who have an unresolved dispute with a consumer, can access accredited Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) bodies to assist in resolving these disputes. The new regulations enacted in April 2026 have a wider definition of ADR and some businesses will be caught by the new regulations and will need to become accredited.
Relevant legislation:
CTSI is the Competent Authority designated within the legislation, for accrediting ADR providers in the non-regulated sector.
If your business is offering ADR and is not already accredited by CTSI, please contact us at the email address below and our team will support you through your application.
Bodies seeking accreditation to operate in regulated sectors will have to make a separate application to a differing appropriate Competent Authority. In the UK these are as follows:
- The Financial Conduct Authority
- Legal Services Board
- Civil Aviation Authority
- Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (commonly known as Ofgem)
- Office of Communications (commonly known as Ofcom)
- Powys County Council, as the lead enforcement authority for the purposes of the Estate Agents Act 1979
ADR accreditation process and documents
Businesses providing dispute resolution services may be caught by the DMCC Act 2024, and will need to become accredited by CTSI in order to continue providing ADR services. Please review the DMCC Act 2024, in particular the list of exemptions and the definitions of ADR, to determine if the service you offer needs to become accredited.
CTSI has produced guidance documents for ADR accreditation which you can view below:
