Obituary - David Burleigh FCTSI 1933 to 2026

David was born in Cambridge and began his career in local government in the county land agent’s department. After a two-year break for national service in the RAF, he sampled different departments in local government before entering the Weights and Measures Service in Worcestershire in 1958

Obituary - Martin Fisher 1954 to 2026

Martin’s exceptional Trading Standards career began in August 1976 when he was one of six trainees recruited by Hampshire Consumer Protection Department. Five succeeded in securing the then DPCP qualification, the sixth opted for the priesthood in Canada.

CTSI Supports: Sign Language Week

16 March - 22 March 2026 : Sign Language Week, marked as an awareness week for British Sign Language (BSL) and Irish Sign Language (ISL), is celebrated annually in March to commemorate the first time BSL was acknowledged as a language in its own right by the UK Government on 18 March 2003. It aims to celebrate and educate about BSL and ISL, to encourage more people to start learning it.
